When asked about bringing Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PC, 343 Industries has stated that their main focus is on Xbox.
Executive producer Dan Ayoub also talked about the technical hurdles from bringing the anthology to PC. He acknowledges that the Xbox One architecture is not that much different from many modern PCs. There is no issue on that end.
However, making the anthology is a large effort all on its own. 343 is working between four games, over 100 maps, many cinematics, and on top of that, Halo 2 Anniversary. Of course, all these games are getting remasters as well, and 343 has committed to delivering 1080p, 60FPS performance specs on these games.
Ultimately, the anthology is meant to celebrate the Halo 2’s ten year anniversary on Xbox, so it was only natural that Xbox would be the priority. Ayoub reasserts that PC is still part of their business, implying that they will be bringing the game over eventually.
If Microsoft is serious about focusing on anniversaries, Halo 2 did not get released to Windows until 2007. It may take three years for the game to come to PC, but if the PC releases of Ryse and Dead Rising 3 are any indication, Microsoft may not wait that long.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming November 11 exclusively to the Xbox One.
