Smash director Masahiro Sakurai has reassured fans that daily Smash updates will continue until the Wii U version is released. That's great, but just one question: When will the Wii U version be released? So far, we've only been given an ambiguous "Winter 2014" window. However, if these latest leaks are to be believed, the day of destiny is November 21, 2014.
A few days ago, NeoGAF user Sn4ke_911 shared this image of a Fred Meyer pre-order card for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which listed the November 21 date. Could be just a placeholder, right? Publishers and retailers do that all the time. But adding more fuel to the fire is another share from this morning, which concerns a Smash Wii U ad that just appeared on the French site Puissance Nintendo. The release date on the ad? November 21.
If that second date is for Europe, then that means the European version will launch the same day as the North American one. Considering that the 3DS version is scheduled for the same day, October 3, in both regions, this doesn't sound far-fetched. Furthermore, November 21 is also when Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arrive — Nintendo may want to release two of its big holiday hitters on the same day, much like how it released both Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on November 22 last year.
We're waiting on official confirmation, but I see no reason not to believe Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will drop on November 21.
