We have some new footage for WWE 2K15, taken off the cuff from a public preview.
As you will see yourself, these videos were taken surreptitiously sideways on a phone, but they’re more than good enough to show you how it looks.
This first clip is a match between John Cena and Randy Orton. Even under these conditions, the graphical quality of the game is obvious. Also note the dynamic ref moves in ways that make sense, there actually is a randomized, individualized crowd, and camera angle is utilitarian, but looks just like it would in the TV show, down to the jump cuts to highlights and finishing moves.
This seems to be an early build because animation seems unstable. At certain parts animations have to catch up to the action. While we don't have confirmation, it is highly likely this footage was taken at Gamescom, which we already profiled for a seemingly unstable build.
This second clip shows Cesaro working Cena over. Once again, impressively, the camera knows to transition to a close up when Cesaro does his signature Muay Thai kicks. Cesaro does a giant swing on Cena, and again, the camera goes on instant replay.
This last clip shows the ending animation for when Randy Orton wins. Nothing too special here, but they did take special pains to recreate a live WWE match finish in-game.
While the game looks impressive in many ways, questions about the core gameplay remain. Still, if you have been playing wrestling games since the 90s, you know that in terms of presentation alone, WWE 2K15 is already in many ways a step forward for the genre.
WWE 2K15 will be released on October 28, on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
