A demo for Evolve was available in this year’s PAX Prime. Fans shared their impressions on the game, including new details.
Monster controls are easy to understand. Moves available include a ground-and-pound move, a lightning strike, and something akin to a Force push. One monster evolution allows you to fly. As the monster, you get to choose different perks, or focus on one. In contrast, hunters only get to choose one perk.
The game might not be fun if you are a hunter. In particular, if you are playing with people you do not know. You can die quickly if you and team members are not communicating, which could happen if they don’t care to coordinate, or simply do not have headsets. Hunters will need to coordinate to keep each other alive.
All hunter classes each have their own sub-classes. This is why there are also more than four hunter characters.
There are some things implied, although not directly stated here. It is possible that one or two hunters could be enough to take down a monster. This might be the case for some particular hunter characters, and if they find and trap the monster early on in the game. It may also be the case that monsters and hunters can completely miss each other in the maps, spending much, if not all of the game, just looking for each other. Of course, these things can be changed in the final build.
Evolve is estimated to release February 10, 2015, on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
