Skjaar Kickstarter Hopes To Bring Steampunk Adventure Horror To PCs And Next-Gen

August 28, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The combination adventure/survival horror game holds a lot of promise.

European studio Stellark Magic Ltd is the latest to put up their dream game to gamble if they can fund it on Kickstarter. Introducing Skjaar, a steampunk adventure / survival horror game.

Like traditional point and click adventure games, you will be seeking out clues and solving puzzles, but at the same time, you need to take care exploring this dank, hostile environment. Monsters and traps await in every corner, which you can choose to face head on in combat, or to get around from completely using stealth and your wits.

The game has three protagonists; twins Orin and Camille, and their common friend Nea. The three are training to be medical practitioners in the backdrop of the American Civil War, when they are inexplicably transferred to a new dimension.

When the game starts, you will have to choose to play either Orin or Camille. The other sibling will then become an NPC, who will assist you, along with Nea. All three have their own unique skillsets, along with their own individual storylines and ‘paths’, which may be referring to skill trees.

Orin has a sword, and Camille is a crack shot with a pair of pistols. Either sibling can choose not to fight and hide in the shadows, and take an enemy down with traps found in the surrounding environment.

Stellark, based in Croatia and England, hope to bring the game to Windows and Mac. Stretch goals include mobile platforms, as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can watch the project pitch below and donate here.
