The Evil Within: Achievements List, Hollywood Voice Cast, Hour Long Livestream

August 27, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The livestream reveals as much of the game as Bethesda can show, and is for mature audiences only.

Shinji Mikami and Bethesda Softworks has revealed a lot of details for The Evil Within, including no less than an hour long stream.

On the official Bethesda stream, the game was demonstrated by no less than PR and marketing VP Pete Hines. He and the other Bethesda staff share valuable commentary on the game. The stream definitely comes with a warning, for some very graphic content, but also it's generally unsettling atmosphere.

If you can’t watch the full stream, these are some key takeaways:

The limited checkpoints, and being forced to replay sections means playing the game will be a tense experience. You will constantly be worried you will fail, while the game’s visuals try to do its job of scaring you as well.

You also deal with scarce resources, and you will have to burn your enemies to make sure they stay dead. Even without enemies, the exploration and puzzle solving can be an unpleasant experience on its own. One sequence finds you operating on an opened up brain, on a severed head laid on a table.

Bethesda themselves shared the game's achievements list. The list has some spoilers, but its descriptions and icons are scary on their own as well.

Finally, Bethesda recently shared a new trailer, revealing their Hollywood voice casting. Jackie Earle Haley is the game’s main antagonist, Ruvik. Anson Mount plays protagonist Sebastian Castellanos, and Jennifer Carpenter was cast as Juli Kidman, Sebastian’s Junior detective and partner. Juli will be playable in future DLC.

The Evil Within will be released October 2014 to Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
