This is a guide for Grimoire Cards in Destiny.
The Grimoire Cards act like a game specific, platform agnostic achievements system. Completing a specific objective unlocks its corresponding card. Each of these cards shares some of the game’s lore. You will be able to access your Destiny account on Bungie.net on the open web, and peruse the cards at your own time.
Weapon Grimoire Card
When you unlock a Rank 2 weapon Grimoire Card, your characters will earn experience faster when they use the same weapon type. You only need to use one of your characters to earn this card, and all your other characters benefit.
Enemy Grimoire Card
When you unlock a Rank 2 enemy Grimoire Card, earned by killing a specific type of enemy, your characters can earn more Glimmer from killing more of that enemy. Enemies drop consumable items when they die. For example, Hive enemies drop Black Wax Idols, and Fallen enemies drop Ether Seeds. These items boosts the amount of Glimmer you can earn from killing that enemy type for a specific amount of time. When you earn the Rank 2 Grimoire Card for a certain enemy type, those consumables will drop more frequently.
Location Grimoire Card
When you unlock a Rank 2 Grimoire Card for a specific location, you can get mote item drops. In specific, the material nodes drop more materials. This has been observed in the Ocean of Storms and Old Russia. It is likely that all locations will have a corresponding card.
Mode Grimoire Card
You can unlock Grimoire Cards for the different game modes. Each one gives a reward which you can only use in that mode. The only cards publicly known so far are for the Strikes mode and Patrol mode.
When you earn the Rank 1 Strikes Grimoire Card, you will be able to pick up cloaks, marks and bonds in that mode. You earn the Rank 1 Patrol Grimoire Card by making VIP kills in VIP Missions. When you earn the Patrol card, you will be able to use more resources when completing City tasks. You get to use these resources for any destination.
