A new Pokemon game will be announced this Thursday, via Nico Nico’s livestream.
Several Pokemon Company executives will be in attendance, including president Tsunekazu Ishihara, Nobuhiko Okamoto, and Aoi Yuuki. I will go out on a limb and say Game Freak director Junichi Masuda will also be there, as well as a high ranking executive from Nintendo.
The Pokemon Company gave no further indication on what the game could possibly be, but various outlets point to several different leads. Most recently, Pokemon TCG was revealed to be coming to the iPad very soon, so this could be the day they make a formal unveiling of the game.
It could also be the long rumored fighting game Pokken Fighters. Patents for the name Pokken Fighters were registered by Nintendo, although they gave no explanation at the time. Some fans also speculate the teaser footage of Lucario and Blaziken facing off in the streets a few years back could be a teaser for this game. If you can believe this, it is also rumored that thanks to Namco Bandai’s involvement in the latest Super Smash Bros, the Tekken team is making this into a Tekken like fighting game.
Another possibility is that this could be a new Pikachu game. Pikachu is a popular brand all on his own, and is often placed on the spotlight of many Pokemon spinoff games, like Pokemon Puzzle League. He also has some of his own games, including Hey You, Pikachu and Pokemon Channel.
Lastly, of course, it could be the next game in the main series, after Pokemon Omega Red & Alpha Sapphire.
