Keita Takahashi is the creator of Katamari Damacy and one of my personal heroes. When someone mentions the name "Miyamoto" I don't really have any reaction. OK, he's a cool guy, made a lot of cool stuff, and we are all obviously in his debt to one degree or another. On the other hand, Takahashi is responsible for a game which is all about rolling shit up, and which arguably has one of the greatest soundtracks of any game released, ever…ditto for the sequel. To see that he's now living in Vancouver and working on some kind of crazy social MMO is pretty fantastic, and pretty much exactly what I expect from him. The guy has a totally different outlook on the game industry than most developers, he finds it to be pretty much a collection of boring crap, which is brutally honest and in my opinion a completely justified position to have. He wouldn't be involved in a project like this unless he thought it was something special, and just knowing that he's working on Glitch suddenly makes the game absolutely fascinating to me.
Takahashi is writing a blog for Japanese Gaming mag Famitsu all about his work in Vancouver, called Love Letter From Canada, which is in both Japanese and English. You need to read it. Additionally, you can sign up to beta test Glitch at the game's official site, here.
