Skybound Interactive has partnered with Starbreeze studio Overkill, and will be making a new coop FPS The Walking Dead game. I am sure that some of you are already thinking that’s all you need to know, but we have more information for you below.
No platforms yet, but the game is planned for release in 2016, and of course, it will be mature audiences only. As The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman pointed out, he lovesPayday 2, so he was eager to work with Overkill on this game. Overkill will have full creative control, so it will be up to them to make a The Walking Dead shooter that lives up to expectations. They are also promising possible crossovers with Payday 2 as well, although how that is going to work out remains to be seen.
As a small side note, Overkill's parent company, Starbreeze, will be publishing this game, so production values aside, this is technically an indie. How cool is that?
While you wait, Overkill has a little tease planned for active Payday 2 players now. Lucille, Negan’s favorite barbed wire baseball bat, will be available for you to use in your heists, to use in the most diabolical ways you can think of. Stay tuned to GameRanx as we will definitely keep you up to date on this new The Walking Dead game. In the meantime, you can watch this trailer which doesn’t really reveal anything, save Robert at the end, below.
