New screenshots have come out for the latest Dark Souls 2 DLC, The Crown of the Old Iron King, and they look gorgeous. In fact, we have two image galleries to share with you, as well as some juicy details. There are new settings, new weapons, new enemies, just a little bit of everything! We’re sharing the bits with you below.
So, the presumed new setting is a factory. An old, broken down factory, connected to an iron and coal bastille and covered with snow.
The newly revealed weapons are a new sword with a longer thrust move, a new Bow made of bones (possibly like Gough’s bow). An enemy is seen using the sword in action, and it looks like the Baldur Side Sword, or as fans have dubbed it, the Baller Swag Sword. Whatever you call it, the BSS was the best sword in Dark Souls 1, and this one seems longer, and added with a hawk design guard.
There happens to be a new emblem, which could be a hawk or dragon design. There will also be a consumable that will help you find traps, which could act like Rhoy’s Stone of Knowledge.
There is a new ghost enemy, who wears a welder’s mask and huge shoulder pads.
One last thing, about the Yellow Quartz Shield and Yellow Quartz Longsword. Their weapon descriptions tell of Royal Soldiers that went to the Iron Palace, and got their items coated in Yellow Quartz. It seems you will yourself run into this Yellow Quartz soon. It may be a consumable or item that you can apply to your weapons, but lower durability.
Dark Souls 2: The Crown of the Old Iron King is coming August 26 to Windows and Xbox 360, and a day later on PS3. You can check out our two image galleries below.
