How Rise of the Tomb Raider’s Xbox One Exclusivity Hurts Gamers

August 12, 2014 by Stephen Daly

The game’s exclusivity makes sense for Microsoft but harms gamers.

The biggest news to come out of Microsoft's gamescom media briefing today was that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be exclusive to Xbox One.

Plenty of gamers reacted angrily to the news which makes sense for Microsoft but not for anyone else. There's still some confusion as to whether the game is a timed exclusive or will remain on Xbox One perpetually but either way players, and especially those who played the 2013 reboot on PS3 or PC are losing out.

Sales of the Definitive Edition released earlier this year were mainly on PS4 so it's was an interesting move by Square Enix to say the least. Over on our YouTube channel Jake has put together a video looking at why the game's exclusivity is bad for gamers.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is set for release in late 2015.
