Mortal Kombat X: Kano Returns With New Cybernetic Tricks

August 12, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Also, we see a new stage in action.

Kano has returned for Mortal Kombat X, and has Netherrealm producer Ed Boon has revealed, he has brought even more fancy tricks with him.

Of course, Kano is much older now, and he’s augmented himself crazy with many cybernetic enhancements. Consequently, we learned more about a newly revealed stage as well.

The Jungle stage is set in the Outworld. This is a part of the jungle overrun with ancient ruins, from a presumably forgotten Outworld race.

Kano’s three variations are Cutthroat, Cybernetic, and C. Each one is dramatically different from the other, and will fit different players’ different gameplay styles. So, he seems to be a good one for beginners to jump in with.

Cutthroat is all about knife fighting. Thanks to his cybernetic heart, Kano can target his knives precisely, and they add range and teeth to his normals. He also seems to have some good, if short, ground and air combos, and a solid anti air.

Cybernetic is all about projectiles, as it fires up his eye laser, that can damage up close or from a distance, and at different angles. He still uses knives, and his sweeping kicks can get to you from a distance.

Finally, with Commando, Kano takes it mano a mano. He gains high and low attack counters, better grapples, and becomes an overall more fearsome fighter up close. Some players might be afraid to play this style, but the ones who know what they’re doing will enjoy playing rushdown Kano.

If you’re not too good with the fighting game lingo, the short of it is Cybernetics is about throwing projectiles, Commando is about getting up close and personal, and Cutthroat is a cross between the two.

Mortal Kombat X is coming 2015 to Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. You can check out the trailer below.
