Just because Pokemon X & Y are the new hotness doesn't mean you can't go back and enjoy previous installments in the series. On reddit, a user named Justin–Bieber (no relation, I'm sure!) had recently played Pokemon Emerald on Game Boy Advance. He cherished his time in Hoenn so much that he decided to chronicle his journey through a series of animated GIFs.
Obviously, the original Emerald doesn't look anywhere near as good as these pics. Mr. Bieber took the creature models from X & Y and slapped them atop backgrounds pulled from mid-90s, early-00s SNK fighting games like King of Fighters (plus some Street Fighter thrown in for good measure). The effect is quite striking! Makes you wish the games' looked more like this, no?
