Artist Bruno Camara has shared some Fallout 4 character fan art that’s going to tickle the Fallout fan in you.
If Bethesda will not share anything with us about Fallout 4, than the fans will. First off, let’s get this clear: Bruno did not come up with this character concept himself, but instead based his work on Jeff Simpson’s original Fallout art concept, which you can check out here.
Bruno explained he decided to turn this concept into a 3D model after being impressed with the concept. He also cited how he found it reminiscent of post-apocalyptic movies Mad Max and The Book of Eli. In his mind, the character represented the tone of the game world; old, worn, destroyed, with individual costume elements comprised of rare objects someone would have picked up from a desert world.
These images do show the creation of the 3D model piece by piece, using ZBrush, Max, Photoshop, and Mudbox. Bruno made a detailed guide on how he made the 3D model, but if you don’t know the technical stuff, let me sum up the process here:
1. Bruno made the initial 3D sketch in ZBrush, with emphasis on form or detail.
2. And then, he edited the ‘sketch’, via retopologizing and UV Mapping, so that he could add more details in, using Max.
3. After that, Bruno went back into ZBrush to sculpt more details in.
4. Using both Photoshop and Mudbox, Bruno added the textures in.
5. Finally, Bruno posed and rendered the model in Max, and composited and placed finishing touches in via Photoshop.
