The Sims 4: More Details From Maxis And Custom T-Shirts Via Mod

July 29, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

This might be the first major mod for the game, as you can see.

We have new details regarding The Sims 4, including information on the first major mod.

First off, a little follow up on Sims learning skills. Learning things like crafting ties in to Handiness, will allow you to furnish your home, and will even give you a chance to earn money. So, yeah, a craft your Sim cultivated since childhood can become his or her career later in life.

We also get a clarification on kill states for the Sims. You may remember seeing one Sim expire after falling over a hysterical mood in a recent trailer. Now, Maxis clarifies that the trailers show sped up gameplay, and it is not so easy to get one to die. Basically, you have to go out of your way to be really negligent for it to happen. Also, the game will give you due warning, just to be sure you are not doing it by mistake. What happens next is up to you.

Sims can talk to NPCs, like maids.

Sim personalities will have certain nuances, although Maxis seems reticent to share details. They will have something like a worldview, with an ego, ideals, and outlook. Sims doing things like breastfeeding in public, and also other Sims reacting to other Sims who do things like this, will reflect that worldview.

Traveling has loading screens, but switching between maps for two worlds in Map view will not. Of course, if you have powerful rigs, those loading times will be considerably shorter, and that’s before you configure high end options.

All rooms, including pre made rooms, are fully customizable. You will be able to change the contents of a premade room the moment you apply it to your home. If you do place a new house in, the furniture from the prior house does not automatically go in, but instead goes into inventory. If you do want to keep your older house for safekeeping, you need to save it first.

Finally, we have a video of a really useful application of what may be the first major mod: the Create-a-Sim Recolor Tool. Using the tool, you can make yourself a new custom t-shirt. This mode also gives you a custom slot in the color swatches. You can check out the video below.

The Sims 4 is coming to Windows on September 2, and also to Mac in an unannounced date.
