Maxis has revealed subtle, meaningful differences to the different areas (which they call worlds) in The Sims 4.
We already know about Willow Creek, intended to be a familiar place for longtime fans, with a lot of greens. In contrast, Oasis Springs is reminiscent of Lucky Palms and Lunar Lakes, surrounded with rockier landscapes. Maxis has made it so that even the houses have personality, although it may not be something you notice until it’s pointed out to you.
In fact, between the five neighborhoods each place has, there’s a lot to see and do. New homes and venues can always be built around these areas, as well as public spaces. Each of these places will always have two neighborhoods with venues. There are also separate outdoor spaces within these places, such as parks, valleys, etc.
Maxis wants to encourage players to roam and switch around these places, so they have placed unique items in each. So, for example, if you’re making a salad recipe, some ingredients will be available only in Willow Creek and some in Oasis Springs. Thankfully, now you can easily move characters around between these places as well, a definite improvement overThe Sims 3.
The Sims 4 is coming to Windows and Mac on September 2.
