Nintendo's Eiji Aonuma may have revealed that Link will have to confront "a new formidable enemy" in Zelda Wii U, Rev-Level has revealed.
On the Japanese platform holder's site dedicated to the as yet untitled game, Aounuma wrote (roughly translated) that:
"This software is the Wii U version of the new 'Legend of Zelda' series. This vast Zelda world is without boundaries and Link will challenge a new mystery, a new formidable enemy.”
Given the final part of that statement, it seems that Ganon may not be the bad guy although it wouldn't be the first time that Nintendo has revealed him to be the villain late in the game if they chose to go down that route.
Below is the original Japanese text if anyone can venture a more accurate translation:
"本ソフトã¯ã€ã€Žã‚¼ãƒ«ãƒ€ã®ä¼èª¬ã€ã‚·ãƒªãƒ¼ã‚ºã®Wii U版新作ã§ã™ã€‚境界ãªãã€ã©ã“ã¾ã§ã‚‚広ãŒã‚‹ã€Žã‚¼ãƒ«ãƒ€ã€ã®ä¸–ç•Œã§ã€ãƒªãƒ³ã‚¯ãŒæ–°ãŸãªè¬Žã€æ–°ãŸãªå¼·æ•µã«æŒ‘ã¿ã¾ã™ã€‚"
Aonuma has previously said that the game will have fewer tutorials than the hand-holding Skyward Sword and while Link was indeed the hero of the trailer, Nintendo is interested in seeing if gamers would be interested in a playable female character after some suggested may have changed sex.
