Halo 5: Agent Locke To Be Played By Mike Colter In Halo Nightfall

July 22, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

We get a surprisingly open leak of who is behind the mask.

In a surprising leak, it has been revealed that Mike Colter will be playing Agent Locke in Halo 5 Guardians’ lead in programme Halo Nightfall.

Mike Colter is most well known for his roles in Million Dollar Baby, Zero Dark Thirty, American Horror Story and recently, The Good Wife, playing Lemond Bishop. He’s a relatively older actor with some experience under his belt, although he can easily pass off as a younger guy.

His character description in Nightfall is that he is a part of the Spartan program, under Oni, and that he is disillusioned with much of the Earth government, particularly the military industrial complex they have put up in place because of the Human-Covenant War.

I think the big surprise here is the huge revelation, after speculation that Locke could have been a woman, is that he is being played by an African-American actor. Of course, we all knew it could have been anyone under that helmet, but with Nightfall, the soon-to-be-defunct Xbox Entertainment Studios seemed to have been interested in telling as much story with the show as possible, building up to Guardians’ release. It would free up developers to focus on the game part of the game, although of course whether that has to be taken out of the Halo games is a debatable subject in itself.

To assuage any doubts, although the original leaker Variety took down their article immediately, Mike Colter’s own IMDB page confirms that he is playing the role, and that the programme is currently in pre-production.

Halo Nightall will come out November 2014 ,and Halo 5 Guardians is slated for release Fall 2015, both on Xbox One.
