Project CARS, the crowdfunded racing sim from Slightly Mad Studios, was recently placed under the umbrella of Bandai Namco for global distribution. Presumably, this would help the game get out the door without any additional hiccups or delays. That no longer seems to be case — at least not for the Wii U version, which has been delayed until 2015:
#ProjectCars will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC in November. WiiU will follow in 2015! @WMDCars

This is a most curious update, as the Wii U build has been in development longer than the PS4 and Xbox One builds. Originally, Project CARS was slated for PS3 and Xbox 360, with Wii U added at a later date. In November 2013, it was announced that the PS3 and 360 versions were dropped entirely for their next-gen successors, although plans for the Wii U remained unchanged.
It's possible that this decision was made to focus on the platforms projected to have the greatest sales. However, a poll on the Project CARS site that the Wii U is the leading platform when it comes to consumer interest. A poll on the games homepage may not be indicative of the wider consumer base, but it demonstrates significant interest in the Wii U version. Maybe Bandai Namco will clarify this delay in the coming days.
