Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition will come to all platforms, to be updated to Patch 2.0.6. After that? The issue of support is a big blur.
The Ultimate Evil Edition itself has been updated to Patch 2.0.5 on disc. Patch 2.0.6 itself is planned to be a Day One Patch of sorts. Regarding post-launch support, Blizzard is not quite finished planning it out. Of course, Blizzard intends to provide fixes for bugs and critical game issues. However, they’re not clear on details like how often they will send those patches out, and if they will release new content in the future at all.
It was not mentioned by Blizzard here, but of course, the big question is really if they will support all the platforms in a timely manner. As Diablo fans know by now, not all platforms are treated the same. A lot of fans give Blizzard grief over this, but of course, they have to deal with update certification for each platform holder. Multiplatform games, in general, don’t get support at the same time, because if devs did it this way, it would simply take too long.
If Blizzard is smart, they will know better than to leave any of their platforms neglected. Good game or not, console gamers do not take kindly to their console of choice not getting priority or preferential treatment.
Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition will come to Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One this August 19.
