We have breaking news, as well as some speculation, for Kingdom Hearts 3.
First, take a look at this Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer, which seems to give us a faint sneak peek at the new antagonists, and a little bit of backstory narration. It’s the same vague esoteric language Kingdom Hearts veterans are used to. You can watch the trailer below.
Of course, fan speculation is already all over the place. One fan has pointed out the mysterious new antagonists look like younger versions of Xenahort and Eraqus, and that their conversation alludes to a mysterious new Master, who loves to talk about the history of the Keyblade War.
Another fan takes it a step further. He points out that they may be alluding to Kingdom Hearts Chii, which was itself set during the 1st Keyblade War. This conversation may be alluding to that game’s Five Foretellers.
In Kingdom Hearts Chii lore, the Foretellers are five disciples of one of the masters. They were each given new names and a Tome of Prophecy. They can each read the future using their Tomes, and were privy to a prophecy about a war that will end with the destruction of Light, with the world being enveloped in Darkness.
As a result, these Foretellers decided to use their power to save the future. This power is also what enables the cards in Kingdom Hearts Chii, although the full nature and extent of this power remains unexplained. It seems we will finally know what it all means in Kingdom Hearts 3.
One last thing. Apparently the master had six followers, one of whom did not become a Foreteller. Who could this 6th follower be, and will he/she be a friend or foe?
Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming for the Playstation 4 or Xbox One. We’ll let you know when Square Enix shares more information in the future.
