EA has officially confirmed Battlefield Hardline, coming from Visceral Games.
On a post on the EA blog, Visceral Games’ Steve Papoutsis himself confirmed that his studio was working on the game. He did not corroborate rumors that any of the staff at Criterion Games or the devs now at Ghost Games UK were involved as well.
Instead, he explained how Battlefield Hardline was borne from his 1st meeting with DICE’s Karl Magnus Troedsson. They were both fans of each other’s works, and wanted to conceive of how to bring their talents together on a single project. Basically, he touts Visceral’s strengths in single player and DICE’s strengths in multiplayer as the biggest things to look forward to in the game.
Note that this blog post reveals any details of the game’s story, characters, or even premise. All we have to work with is the initial reveal image, but it does seem that this corroborates what we’ve heard before that this will be a police themed game. The pics show a SWAT vehicle, stacks of unmarked bills, a police helicopter, a guy in a car targeting a shotgun, and what appears to be criminals in ski masks attempting a bank robbery.
No word on platforms or release dates either. We will all have to wait this E3, June 8 at noon Pacific for the official world premiere. In the meantime, you can check out the official site and sign up for updates here.
