This is a guide on how to stream Playstation 4 to your laptop via Steam’s In-Home Game Streaming. Yep, that's the big secret to getting this to work in your home.
You need a Playstation 4, a computer that can run the latest Steam client, and a capture card, to display output for your HDMI device to your PC.
So, you add the program used to display the capture card’s HDMI output. This should have been provided along with the capture card. When you install and run Steam, it should recognize the program automatically. And then, it’s a simple matter of clicking stream.
When it’s all done, and assuming you used a laptop, you can then bring that laptop somewhere else along with a Dualshock 4 somewhere else in the home to continue playing.
It’s a pretty easy lifehack, and it’s surprising that Steam actually set up their streaming this way. Of course, this probably will work on any other HDMI console or device (PS3, Xbox One, Wii U, Retron 5). The only limitation in sight would be interference on the wireless controller of your console of choice, but Bluetooth (which is what Dualshock 4 uses) generally goes as far as 300 feet.
We wonder if Valve will put any limits on how to use their streaming feature in the future, but for now, give this a try and let us know how it works out for you.
