Don’t Starve will be getting a multiplayer mode this Summer for 2 to 4 players, developer Klei Entertainment has announced. Though originally developed as a single-player only title, the survival-focused Don’t Starve will be getting a multiplayer expansion allowing for friends or complete strangers to survive together.
"Alright, so let’s rip this bandage right off," wrote developer Joe W on the game's official forum. "We are bringing multiplayer to Don’t Starve."
The new multiplayer mode will be called Don't Starve Together.
"Don’t Starve Together is a multiplayer expansion for Don’t Starve allowing friends or complete strangers to survive together, in either public or private games. As far as we know, it will have most of (if not all) the normal features in Don’t Starve, balanced for multiplayer, and potentially even add new features."
Interestingly enough, the update will be free to all owners of the game, but will bump the price up for new customers to $19.99. If you intend on playing Don’t Starve with friends, now is a good a time as any to pick it up, before the price gets hiked.
It's a wonder why they didn't call it "Don't Starve Alone," instead.
