OK, once again we’re looking at a rumor regarding Halo 5. We can’t vouch for the source on this one, but we thought it was worth your time, so if you’re curious, read on below.
Our source is Ashan Rasheed, popularly known online as thuway. He claims that the next Halo game is going for a ‘more or less open world.’ If true, it sounds like a huge risk that could go either way, but before we go crazy on speculation, let’s ask ourselves, does this rumor even make sense?
So far, we know that Microsoft has been touting huge plans for Halo, with a huge focus on multiplayer. Considering a lot of recent open world games have also been huge on multiplayer aspects, such as Dark Souls 2 or GTA Online, this all lines up.
Now, let’s look at the subject of hirings. 343 Industries has been on a hiring spree as of late, famously picking up competitive scene member Lenoxcoolgamer, and posting openings for a variety of positions. They have touted a need for people with experience in online multiplayer, as well as web services.
These job openings don’t necessarily support or disprove this rumor. Halo has always been about online multiplayer, and it would make sense for Microsoft to ramp up their online services for the game for next-gen. This is true whether the game turns out to be open world or not. So, it would fit in, but it doesn’t necessarily make the case.
I would go back to my earlier assertion and advise fans to look at this rumor with wariness, but not discount it 100 %. Ultimately, what’s important is that 343 Industries and Microsoft Game Studios deliver on the Halo experience that we all want.
