Within the same day of being crowned NBA MVP for 2014, a conference call revealed that Kevin Durant will also be getting the honor of being the star of NBA 2K15's cover. The next entry in the NBA 2K series is expected to be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on October 7th.
Durant certainly deserves the honor since he toppled fan favorite and other mega star Lebron James for it. It's not an easy feat which makes his accomplishment more impressive than what it is.The athlete is no stranger to appearing in covers of sports video games. NBA 2K15 marks his fourth appearance.
It seemed like a match made in heaven especially since Durant was gushing about the basketball series during the conference call. "I begged them to put me on the cover because I really think nobody plays the game as much as I do. I really wanted to be a part of it, and I know I had to perform on the court to be in the running for it," he said.
He also talked about the game and his favorite career mode option MyPlayer. It just shows how he is certainly one of the best players to represent the game. "I feel it's an escape even though it's still basketball," he said. "I enjoy taking your guy through the season, getting drafted, sitting the bench, becoming a starter and then just trying to get better. I feel that's how it is [in reality]. It's about a journey and that's what I'm on, which is a journey."
We recently posted an Instagram video that teased the dunk animations for the upcoming game. Additionally, the next game could feature celebrity teams as well.
