World of Warcraft’s subscriptions may have seen a small dip, but the game still seems to have legs after all. Blizzard revealed that the game’s latest expansion, the Warlords of Draenor, has exceeded 1 million preorder.
Blizzard shared this information in yesterday’s conference call, the same one which revealed the drop in subscribers from 7.8 million to 7.6 million users. Preorders have been open since March 10, so they had time to accumulate, but definitely, reaching one million is a positive sign. Perhaps Blizzard is now down to whittling down WoW’s most loyal users, so they can set proper expectations and make DLC for the captive audience.
Warlords of Draenor will raise the level cap to 100. Subcribers will play in the six five player dungeons in the expansion’s seven zones. It is hoped that the introduction of the ‘seamlessly instanced’ PvP zone will attract newer subscribers, but even if they can just get all the current subscribers to sign up for it, it’ll be more than enough. Blizzard also promised a graphics update, although players at the lower end should also be able to run the game fine.
