We have a new interesting Kickstarter that offers up a fun little variation of the top-down action RPG game, and this time, you’re going postal in a good way. Introducing solo project Courier.
Courier is the idea of one Adam Prack, from Myrtle Beach, SC. You play a postal worker in a seeming RPG world, in a game slated for Windows, Linux, and Mac, including Steam, as well as Wii U.
So what’s the fun of being a mail carrier (male or female, your choice) in an RPG world? Well, you eschew the long grind of RPG battles for exploration, puzzle solving, and a lot of dialogue, You’re still going through dungeons, but I daresay you won’t get bored doing the same old thing in them.
So, forget fighting. You’ll be spending your time on literal fetch quests, avoiding hazards, and puzzle solving. You do have a short jump, defensive abilities, and power ups. There’ll be a lot of people to talk to and a grand conspiracy to uncover. The funny part is you can talk to, visit, and do errands for the good guys and bad guys alike, although they do bear grudges.
The game will also have tons of sidequests to earn a lot of money, such as time trials and quick deliveries.
Solo projects can be especially risky investments, but I like the ambition of this game idea, and I’m not talking about the scope of the game world. Some game ideas you want to see greenlit, just to see how they would play out. If you’d like to make this game a reality, you can fund it on Kickstarter, and/or vote for it on Steam Greenlight.
