We would like to share with you a cool, atmospheric trailer for Tom Clancy’s The Division. Considering we still know little about the game aside from the initial premise, Dark Winter, is very well made, accurate, and effective.
The trailer makes liberal use of slo-mo, and hinges its mini-story and what we know for sure about the premise. We see Homeland Security Division agents running, shooting, dying. We then move a bit forward in time, to a sign indicating quarantine in effect, and then back to the past, to before the epidemic struck.
I also like the small visual cues they’ve spread throughout it. The American flag lets us know where its set. The Molotov being lit lets us know who they’re fighting.
The trailer ends panning across an agent looking over his just-killed comrade. I’m not so crazy about the damseling, but it again sends a message and evokes an emotion very quickly.
The Division is arriving this fall for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. Check out the full trailer below.
