The Call of Duty website has been updated with a countdown to the "new era" of Call of Duty which will be revealed this Sunday.
No information on what the game might be is provided though it's believed that developer Sledgehammer Games is working on Modern Warfare 4.
Examination of the site's source code reveals links to information on private military companies.
The title will be GameInformer's next cover story and they report that there will be interviews with studio founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey along with a trailer and more.
The reveal is set for 10:00 Pacific/13:00 Eastern/18:00 BST this Sunday and a GameInformer screenshot of the title seems to suggest a futuristic setting for the game.
Another image, at the top of this post, shows San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge engulfed in flame. Last week, Sledgehammer released the first official image of Call of Duty 2014.
Call of Duty 2014 will be the first entry in the series solely developed by Sledgehammer and also the first since Activision switched to three-year development cycles for games in the franchise.
It will also be the first Call of Duty to prioritise current-gen consoles. Actvision publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg told IGN in February:
"Sledgehammer is approaching this as a next-gen-first development.
"Obviously in the console-transition year, anyone who developed a cross-generational game last year had to deal with the fact that the technology of the next-gen platforms was still coming into focus and changing quite a bit during the development process…. Now that we have the next-gen hardware out in the marketplace and solid, that is our primary development."
We'll have more information as it's available.
