For PC gaming enthusiasts, the latest graphics cards are just as difficult to get as the latest console releases. We’ve seen several reports of consumers having problems in the past with a new GPU release. Now it looks like some group managed to pull off a pretty big heist that took a reported 40 containers filled with the latest RTX 3090s from Nvidia.
If you’re building a new gaming PC then you might not opt for the RTX 3090. While it’s the latest and greatest, it comes with a hefty price tag. Consumers would have to fork over $1,500 just for the graphics card alone which makes it a difficult component to stomach paying for. Likewise, this GPU is tough to find just like the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S. As a result, you’ll have to wait around for stock to show up or fork over well over the listed MSRP price for the graphics card from a reseller online.
At any rate, the latest news regarding this GPU comes from an MSI factory in China that has revealed a ton of stock just vanished. Apparently, a group managed to steal 40 containers filled with graphics cards set to go out towards retailers. This stock was apparently over $300,000 in goods which is likely, even more, when the cards get flipped.
The consensus is that the graphics card heist was an inside job. This is due to the amount of surveillance within the factory. Now the hunt to find these graphics cards are underway and even MSI is offering a reward for information leading to the return of these GPUs. Unfortunately, the cards may already be gone and that’s likely a blow to consumers hoping to get their hands on a unit.
