John Romero Confirms Doom Guy’s Name

October 12, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

It’s Doom Guy.

There’s a ton of love towards the Doom franchise as it’s been around since 1993. This revolutionary and immensely popular science fiction FPS threw players into the role of a space marine that’s tasked with killing all sorts of demonic scum. Ever since 1993, this heroic character has been on a fight against hell’s army with a series of boss fights and scenery changes. But, after all these years there’s been some questions as to who this person actually is. Now we finally get some confirmation behind one of the co-founders of id Software, John Romero.

John Romero help create id Software which brought out the likes of Doom. However, he’s since moved on to other projects and companies. Most fans still know him purely for the creation of such an influential FPS that’s since spawned several installments, spin-offs, ports, and even remakes at this point. Recently, the legendary developer was on Twitter celebrating the anniversary of Doom 2, a game that launched back in 1994, and one fan was quick to fire out a question for a clear answer.

The Twitter user asked about Doom Guy’s name and even shot out some guesses or supposed names released in the past. According to John Romero, Doom Guy’s name is Doom Guy. It’s the name dubbed for years and it looks like we are making it official. It’s one mystery that fans can finally put behind them as they embark on the next major chapter to Doom Eternal which is the DLC release called The Ancient One’s.

Furthermore, John Romero fans can get ready for his next major title release under Romero Games Ltd, which is the Empire of Sin. If you’re unfamiliar with Empire of Sin, it’s a strategy title set during the prohibition era as players take the role of a mob boss. That title is set to launch on December 1, 2020, for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
