900,000 PlayStation Cameras have been sold to date and the periphery remains "severely supply constrained," according to Sony's Chris Norden.
During a panel attended by GameSpot at the Game Developers Conference today, Norden revealed that Sony had underestimated demand for the periphery which has an attachment rate of 15 per cent. Six million PlayStation 4 consoles have been sold to date.
The PlayStation Camera is hard to find in many retailers and Norden asks those still looking for the periphery to "please be patient" as Sony seeks to replenish supply but it's unclear when they will be able to do so.
Unlike the Xbox One's Kinect sensor which is bundled with the console, the PlayStation Camera is sold separately from the PS4 and it typically sold for $60.
Sony has confirmed today that a future firmware update will allow players to dim the DualShock 4's lightbar. It's been a busy GDC for the company, they announced their Project Morpheus virtual reality kit earlier this week.
