The battle royale video game genre is massively popular right now and we’re seeing a ton of anticipation for new video game titles that can keep up. There’s certainly an influx of video games releasing into the market for the genre regularly right now, but few can really carve out a group to keep afloat. Still, for the few massive games in the franchise, it looks like we’ll probably see a release on the next-generation platforms.
Going into 2020, there was plenty of excitement in the video game industry. Not only were there some big-name titles releasing this year, but we also knew that both Sony and Microsoft had plans to bring out their next-generation platforms. Now some things got shaken up a bit with this coronavirus health pandemic outbreak, but it wasn’t enough to sway either company from pulling their console release this year. Recently, Sony held their latest stream event which showcased some new video game titles coming out for the PlayStation 5.
One of the games that managed to get highlighted was Fortnite. Epic Games released Fortnite back in 2017 and it’s still a mega battle royale hit for all ages. There’s a real thrilling aspect of building up structures and fighting against a swarm of players in hopes of being the last man or team standing. While it’s likely the game that most expected for next-generation platforms, we now know that Fortnite will be a launch title readily available for the PlayStation 5.
This is a free-to-play game as well so the chances are you’ll find quite a few new PlayStation 5 owners checking the game out for the first time or replaying the title on the latest Sony hardware. For those of you who didn’t catch the stream, the PlayStation 5 is set to launch on November 12, 2020, for $499 unless you opt for the cheaper digital version which will come in at $399.
