Following the revelation yesterday that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been delayed until February 2015, CD Projekt RED CEO Marcin Iwinski has told GameSpot that development of Cyberpunk 2077 has not been impacted by the decision.
Iwinski commented that Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 have different core teams so a delay in one game's progress does not affect the other title.
"Cyberpunk 2077 is developed by a separate team within CD Projekt Red, so the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is not really affected."
However, he added that some members of the Cyberpunk 2077 team do contribute to Wild Hunt.
"In order to ship a huge RPG we do use help of certain team members between teams. It works this way between Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3."
They do this do finalise "key" elements of the two games and Iwinski says this is standard practice, "so no harm done here," he explained. While Wild Hunt's delay is disappointing, the executive notes that CD Projekt RED it applying the lessons they've learned from the game's development to Cyberpunk 2077.
"We are working hard to deliver an outstanding RPG and rest assured, that all the learnings on The Witcher 3 are being applied to the Cyberpunk 2077 development."
Both The Withcer 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 are in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
