Warframe, the free-to-play cooperative shooter coming out of Digital Extremes, continues to grow on the PlayStation 4. A new update has just been added to the next-generation version of the game, giving players a new Warframe, more weapons, a fresh game mode, and a redesigned HUD. All of this content is now available at no cost.
This news comes from the PlayStation Blog, where Digital Extremes associate producer Pat Kudirka introduces the Zephyr. This air-based Warframe is lighter than all every other models on the market, using this additional speed to her advantage on the battlefield. This will allow for the Zephyr’s lethal attacks to hit hard and fast, likely before most enemies even know what happened.
The biggest change comes in the form of the new HUD, which is intended to be less obtrusive, contain more information for the player, and offer a handful of new customizable options. It’ll be a bit of an adjustment for long-time Warframe players, but the developer is hoping that fans will find the game more enjoyable through the tighter presentation.
Last but not least is Interception mode, which is a classic capture-and-hold experience. Basically, players are asked to stay in close proximity of one of the four designated sectors on the map to capture the point. The more points that are in a team’s control, the faster their total score increases. After a certain number is reached and the remaining enemies are defeated, the game is over.
