PlayStation 4 owners looking to indulge in the first massively multiplayer take on The Elder Scrolls franchise won’t have to double down on subscription fees. Although it sounds like Microsoft is requiring both Xbox Live Gold and the $14.99 charge in order to see everything that’s in Bethesda’s upcoming The Elder Scrolls Online, a Q&A on the European PlayStation Blog has confirmed that PlayStation Plus isn’t required to play the game.
This comes from Matt Firor, the game director who probably just made a lot of friends in the PlayStation zone.
“A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play The Elder Scrolls Online,” he said. “PS4 players will only be required to pay the same monthly subscription associated with The Elder Scrolls Online that PC and Mac users will pay — nothing more.”
That’s good news for those already on the fence about paying the monthly fee, as this MMORPG was starting to look like just too major an investment for most players.
