MarvelousAQL Europe announced today that it has cancelled the 3DS release of Rune Factory 4 in Europe. The publisher announced the cancellation via a press release today after no official discussion following the North American release.
In the statement MarvelousAQL apologized for the cancellation and said the publisher cannot release Rune Factory 4 in European territories. "While MarvelousAQL has made every effort to secure the title’s release for this territory, it is, unfortunately, not possible to do so at this time."
MarvelousAQL did not provide a reason as to why a European release is "not possible," especially considering Rune Factory 4 is the best selling title in the franchise. The game sold over 150, 000 copies in Japan; making it the best selling Rune Factory, with rune Factory 2 close behind.
Neverland, the studio responsible for developing the Rune Factory franchise, ran out of money this past November and the studio was forced to declare bankruptcy.
Rune Factory 4 is available on the 3DS in North America and Japan, but region locks prevent European players from purchasing foreign copies.
