Call of Duty Ghosts ARX-160 Guide

January 11, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The ARX-160 is poor in power, but has what it takes to overperform its class and compete with SMGs.

This is a guide for the ARX-160 in Call of Duty Ghosts.

Damage is not the strong suit of the ARX-160. It can kill with three shots up close, two if one is a headshot. At medium range, the number of shots literally doubles to six shots to kill, four with one headshot. Clearly, this is a gun with poor range.

On the flip side, the ARX-160 has one of the highest rates of fire in the game at 857 rounds per minute. Hipfire is also good, above average for the assault rifle class. This makes the gun akin to a hybrid SMG.

Recoil is moderate, which isn’t a total buzzkill, but you will want to fire short bursts to compensate. Aim time is par for its class at 300 milliseconds and the gun has high mobility. Again, magazine capacity is average at 30 rounds, 45 rounds in extended magazines. Reload time is fast at 2.87 seconds, pairing well with its high rate of fire.

Making use of the ARX-160 like a hybrid SMG means to put a premium on mobility. Therefore, the muzzle brake is a good choice, as it increases your possible range. To keep you competitive at medium ranges, you should also acquire the foregrip to reduce recoil.

The Stalker Perk will fit you in the role your gun will have you play. Mobility goes full 100 % while you retain the ability to target enemies quickly. Best of all, Stalker will improve your ability to avoid enemy fire. Agility will close the gap between the ARX-160 and SMGs, making you a lethal close  quarters combatant, and Focus will give you the definite edge. You will also want to look into resistive Perks, such as ICU to speed up recovery time.

While the ARX-160 can be upgraded to go toe to toe with SMGs, it still lacks good range, with a huge loss of damage at short distances. It plays to its strengths best dominating the close quarters game, in a class that hits hard and fast.
