Level-5 Wants to Surprise Fans with Something New

January 7, 2014 by Andrea Castellano

Level-5 prepares to reveal a brand new game to surprise fans this year.

Alongside the Western release of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch in 2013, Level-5 also introduced brand new titles such as Youkai Watch, Wonderflick, and updates to the popular Fantasy Life. When speaking with Japanese publication, 4Gamer, Level-5 explained their plans reveal something to surprise the game industry in 2014.

As Fantasy Life continues its success in Japan, Level-5 also wants to bring something entirely new to fans in 2014. Level-5 CEO, Akihiro Hino, discussed with 4Gamer the studio's intent.  "In the midst of a rather sluggish consumer game industry at the moment, I believe that the industry needs a ‘new game’. We’ll try our best to make a new title that’ll surprise all of you, so please look forward to that."

Hino said that Level-5 is working to "prepare something, so please wait just a little longer." Siliconera notes that the "sluggish consumer game industry" refers to the retail hand and console titles. The interview does not state which platforms Level-5 aims for with their new game.

Level-5 expanded its outreach this past summer as the studio released Layton 7 on iOS and Android in addition to the Nintendo 3DS release.
