Killzone Shadow Fall Assault Class Guide

January 5, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The Assault Class is the one that goes gungho on the frontlines. Learn the best way to play like a grunt.

This is a guide for the Assault Class in Killzone Shadow Fall. Remember that all the abilities are available from the start, but some attachments and upgrades have to be unlocked by completing challenges.

Abilities:

·         Nano Shield (Primary)

All Assault Class players will always be able to use this ability. To activate, you press left on the d-pad. The Nano Shield deploys a temporary energy screen that blocks enemy attacks while your allies’ attacks can pass through.

·         Speed Dash

To activate, you press right on the d-pad. The Speed Dash gives you a temporary speed boost, for retreating and handling missions where speed is necessary.

·         Stun Blast

To activate, you press right on the d-pad. The Stun Blast temporarily stuns and blinds nearby opponents, much like the Stun Drone in Scout Class. It can also take out enemy drones, turrets, Nano Shields and Petrusite Grenades in range.

·         Buddy Drone

To activate, you press right on the d-pad. This will send out a flying combat drone to attack all nearby enemies. Of course, it will give away your position, so use judiciously.

Primary Weapons:

·         LS21

The LS21 Valk is a light, versatile SMG best at close and medium range.

·         StA25

The StA25 Slug is powerful and fires fast, again best at close and medium range.

·         M55

TheM55 Rumbler is an all purpose assault rifle, with a perfect balance between fire rate and accuracy.

·         StA409

The StA409 Keyzer is a light assault rifle with less range but higher ROF than the M55.

·         LS36

The LS36 Breacher is a semiauto shotgun best up close and in medium range.

Secondary Weapons:

·         StA19

This semiauto pistol is best at medium ranges.

·         LS12

This pistol is also a semiautomatic, which has an upgradeable attachment to give it a 3 round burst.

Explosives:

·         M194

The M194 is your fragmentation grenade. This grenade takes time to prepare. You can even cook this one.

·         Limpet Grenade

The Limpet Grenade is your sticky grenade.

The Assault Class is what you use when you have to go front and center into the action. Use Stun Blast to disarm enemies, and Nano Shield to buy you time while accomplishing objectives. In some situations, it will become obvious that you are best served with Speed Dash. In terms of weapons, the assault rifles are generally more useful than SMGs, except for maps with tight corridors, when the LS36 shotgun is best.
