Call of Duty Ghosts Vepr Guide

December 16, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

The Vepr is a versatile gun, although its name ‘wild boar’ is perhaps not fitting. Find out more with our guide.

This is a guide for the Vepr in Call of Duty Ghosts.

The Vepr is a Ukrainian submachinegun, whose name translates in their native language to wild boar. It has low damage per shot, requiring three shots to kill close up, although it only takes two shots if one is a headshot. At medium range, that goes up drastically to five shots to kill, four if one is a headshot. At least that damage is consistent, so that you will never need more than five shots to kill. Range is average for its class.

Rate of fire is also average at 869 RPM. It is good at hipfire as well, comparable to other SMGs.

The Vepr excels at accuracy thanks to its mild recoil, coupled with complete mobility. It also excels at magazine capacity with 42 rounds per magazine, 63 for extended magazines. Aim time of 250 ms is unfortunately slow, but reloads are fast at 2.96 seconds. Thanks to the Vepr’s generous magazine capacity, it can take on several different functions.

The silencer is a good choice of attachment, reducing muzzle flash and allowing it to take advantage of that full mobility. The loss in range is not an issue thanks to that mag capacity. Of course, you will also want to augment its key feature and get extended magazines, reducing the number of times you will even have to reload.

Quickdraw is a costly Perk to get, but worth it to get over the Vepr’s sluggish aim time. Alternatively, you can go for unaimed shots with Steady Aim instead. You will also want to use Dead Silence to work together with the Vepr’s mobility and a silencer. Equipped with all three, you can stalk down your targets undetected. Of course, when you can get it, Amplify will help in your role as a stalker, allowing you to identify your targets’ locations. Beyond this, you will want to get the Vepr more handling and mobility Perks.

The Vepr is easy to use, partly thanks to its mild recoil and paired with high output and magazine capacity, it is a very versatile weapon. However, it is easily outclassed in one on one encounters by other guns, and is best used flanking targets rather than taking them head on.
