The Last Guardian is coming. At this point, there are enough reports out there indicating that even if development is moving along slowly, Team Ico boss Fumito Ueda is undoubtedly putting in the work to make this unique experience happen. However, this isn’t the only project that the freelance creator is involved with at this time. In a new interview with Edge, Ueda hinted at a job other than The Last Guardian that he just can’t talk about yet.
So, what is he working on?
“The Last Guardian and the rest is secret. Outside of games, well, just for a hobby, I’d like to try my hand at art,” he said.
Most developers work on multiple projects at once, but with little even out there from The Last Guardian and a development cycle that’s extended well beyond the standard length, it’d be surprising to learn that another game is taking up Ueda’s time. Since he's not directly employed by Sony anymore, it's unclear where this project could even end up.
Either way, let’s take one release at a time. Hopefully, look for more information on The Last Guardian in the coming months.
