Gamasutra reported that Terminal Reality may have shut down, based on a Facebook post from one of their former developers, Jesse Sosa. However, circumstantial evidence seems to prove otherwise.
When I checked the official Terminal Reality website for confirmation, the frontpage has a message indicating that the site is undergoing renovation, with a reassurance that they will be back. In the meantime, they ask fans to check the Facebook page for updates.
Going to the Facebook page reveals that Terminal Reality is in Lewisville, at least since yesterday, and are in fact focus testing their latest game in their new location. They are also telling fans to stay tuned for an upcoming announcement. Simply put, Sosa may simply be out of the loop on this one, and I’m sure he would hope he was wrong as soon as he sees this evidence.
Whether Terminal Reality really is dissolved or not, it seems Sosa has definitely quashed hopes of a new BloodRayne game, at least in the conceivable future. Sosa was previously the company’s art director, and commented in his original thread that he and Travis (presumably Travis Tharrett, also an artist at Terminal Reality and now founder of Dinosaur Gamers) talked to IP owners Majesco about bringing back the franchise. Majesco apparently replied along the lines of getting out of console gaming. It should be noted that Majesco continues to publish Cooking Mama and Zumba Fitness. Among other notable titles Majesco published in the past are Psychonauts, Double Dragon Neon, Nanostray, Phantom Dust, and Monaco: What’s Yours is Mine.
Whatever state BloodRayne's future is in, we wish Terminal Reality the best of luck in their new offices and look forward to their latest game announcement.
