There is a big following with the Streets of Rage franchise. It first got its start decades ago on the Sega Genesis and while it didn’t live a very long life after the console platform came to an end, it was a pleasant surprise to see that Sega was willing to wake the dormant IP up for a fourth installment. For those of you that remember the IP, it was a beat ‘em up that worked well with two-player co-op.
The information has been slowly coming out for Streets of Rage 4 but the latest trailer announces not only that there would be co-op featured in the game, but a new character as well. We’re now able to confirm that Streets of Rage 4 will feature two-player co-op online although offline you can increase that to a total of four players. Likewise, we know that there would be a few familiar faces returning to the game such as Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, and Adam Hunter.
Outside of the returning cast, we will see newcomers as well such as Cherry Hunter and the latest to be unveiled, Floyd Iraia. Floyd is a part cyborg with a longer reach, somewhat similar to Dr. Zan from Streets of Rage 3. With the trailer, we get a look at some of the gameplay of Floyd as well, which you can view in the video embedded above.
Unfortunately, fans that are itching to get their hands on a copy of the game are still left without a release date. So far, Streets of Rage 4 is only slated to launch within 2020, but we do know that the game would be available on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
