Deadline has reported that Netflix is currently working on a live-action adaptation of one the best selling manga’s – -One Piece.
The news comes to many of us as a surprise as One Piece is such a big franchise in the Japanese community. The show and books have been running for over two decades, and have accumulated over hundred of thousands fans.
Netflix will be create a 10-episode season and it will come from Tomorrow Studios. You might remember them from the other live-action anime adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. Cowboy Bebop will start John Cho, however, the production has been put on hold due to Cho’s injury while on set.
One Piece has not received a release date/window, but we do know that creator of the iconic series Eiichiro Oda will be involved. Netflix is known to dabble into live-action adaptations of iconic series. With One Piece joining the Netflix family, it will be interesting to see if it is a success.
