Xbox Scarlett’s Official Name Will Be Centered Around the Machine’s Capabilities

December 12, 2019 by Nick Biazzo

What do you think it’ll

When it comes to the naming of the next generations of Xbox consoles, Microsoft is usually unconventional. Unlike Sony’s numbered systems — PS1, PS2, and therefore, Microsoft usually surprises everyone with something centered around that version of the console.

And thanks to a new interview with Stevior and Phil Spencer, it seems that the unconventional naming routine will follow suit for Xbox Scarlett. Microst’s 360 was a nod to the system’s ability to bring a well-rounded entertainment experience for the user, Xbox One was ‘always on input, all in one’, now many of us are wondering — what will Xbox Scarlett be named?

Spencer on naming the upcoming generation of Xbox console:

“Our naming convention has been around what we think the capabilities are, Xbox 360 was about the entertainment experience around the box and the box being in the center of that entertainment experience. Xbox One, if you remember our branding early on, was ‘always on input, all in one’. Those names were really built around the purpose of the box.”

We know that this upcoming machine will be bringing the most power to an Xbox platform to date, so perhaps it will be centered around power? Or could the new system be named after the streaming ability of the successful Xbox Game Pass subscription? Whatever it may be, we know that Xbox will name the machine in accordance with the machine’s capabilities.

After being around since 2013, both Microsoft and Sony are preparing for the next generation launch. However, if you never got into the Microsoft Xbox One platform, a new bundle option is available which will give you an Xbox One along with an upgrade pathway for the Project Scarlett. Those interested in the Xbox All Access bundle may have a new incentive to pick one up before the end of this year.

For those that are not aware, the Xbox All Access bundle offers consumers an Xbox One console edition which can range from the Xbox One S to an Xbox One X. Likewise, you’ll be given access to an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. For those that don’t want to toss out the full price to purchase the console then the Xbox All Access bundle may prove to be useful. Check out the full article discussing Xbox All Access right here!

So with no official tease of what the next Xbox will be called, what do you think it should be? Should it focus on its power? Steaming ability? Let us hear your best Xbox Scarlett names in the comments below!
