Nintendo Network ID Combines Wii U and 3DS Account Balances

November 13, 2013 by Andrea Castellano

Connected Nintendo Network IDs join account balances.

After years of fans requests to connect online Nintendo accounts, Nintendo finally responds by introducing the ability to create a Nintendo Network IDs used connect eShop digital balances.

If players own both a Wii U and 3DS, then creating the same Nintendo Network ID brings together both accounts and combines any eShop balances existing on either platform. A future update prompts singular 3DS owners to create a Nintendo Network ID, regardless of if they own a Wii U. Unfortunately; the connected Nintendo Network IDs offer limited functionality.

As time progress, Nintendo promises to integrate their online accounts into more services. To further connect the Wii U and 3DS communities, Nintendo plans to release Miiverse for the 3DS.

Since the same pool of money now exists on both platforms, Nintendo begins the sale of 3DS and Wii U eShop cards to offer digital credit. The eShop cards come in a variety of balances and designs. Players can learn more information about the gift cards on Nintendo's website.
