Blizzard announced today at Blizzcon 2019 that one of their most played multiplayer titles, Overwatch, would indeed be getting an official sequel!
Reports have been leaking about the game’s existence for some time now, but finally, Blizzard officially announced the long-awaited announcement fans have been clamoring for. So with an Overwatch 2 officially announced, what does that mean for the future of the franchise? Let’s try to find out more details about that.
Well, first off Overwatch and Overwatch 2 will feature a shared multiplayer environment. Meaning if you aren’t making the jump to the game’s sequel, you will still be playing with those who are. The shared multiplayer environment will allow more players to play the game, and if you do stay on the original title, Blizzard won’t try to force you to upgrade as both the maps and new characters will be released on both versions of the game!
That’s a super awesome initiative taken by Blizzard and fans will appreciate it! However, the real fun starts when players decide to make the jump over to Overwatch 2. The big bulk of the game will be the game’s exclusive story missions, hero missions, new PvP modes, leveling up heroes, and much more!
